In the 25th match of the Indian Premier League 2024, Mumbai Indians recorded their second consecutive win by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets on the basis of the lethal bowling of Jasprit Bumrah.

The 25th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) was played between Mumbai Indians (RCB vs MI) on 11 April 2024 (Thursday) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

In which Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first and invited Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat first.

Royal Challengers Bangalore, batting first, scored 196 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs and gave Mumbai Indians a target of 197 runs to win.

Surya’s explosive batting after Ishan-Rohit :

While chasing the target, both the opening batsmen of Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma, made a great start by batting aggressively and making a century partnership of 101 runs in 53 balls for the first wicket.

Ishan Kishan made an important contribution in giving a solid start to the team by playing a brilliant half-century of 69 runs with the help of 7 fours and 5 skyscraper sixes, facing 34 balls. Ishan Kishan’s wicket was taken by Akash Deep after getting caught by Virat Kohli.

Mumbai Indians lost the second wicket in the form of Rohit Sharma with the score of 139 runs. Rohit Sharma scored 38 runs in 24 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 skyscraper sixes. Rohit’s wicket was taken by Will Jacques after getting caught by Reece Topley.

After Ishan and Rohit returned to the pavilion, Mumbai Indians’ explosive batsman Surya Kumar Yadav did wonders. Surya first made a partnership of 38 runs in 15 balls with Rohit Sharma. After this, along with captain Hardik Pandya, they played a brisk partnership of 37 runs in 13 balls.

Before returning to the pavilion, Surya Kumar Yadav faced only 19 balls and played a brilliant half-century of 52 runs with the help of 5 fours and 4 skyscraper sixes. Surya’s wicket was taken by Vijay Kumar Beas after getting caught by Lomror.

Apart from these batsmen, captain Hardik Pandya scored unbeaten 21 runs with the help of 3 skyscraper sixes in 6 balls while Tilak Verma scored unbeaten 16 runs with the help of 3 fours in 10 balls and played a decisive role in helping the team win.

Mumbai Indians achieved this target by achieving 199 runs for 3 wickets in 15.3 overs. With this win, Mumbai has made a comeback after losing 4 consecutive matches and registered 2 consecutive wins and has reached 8th position in the points table with 4 points.

In bowling, Akash Deep, Vijay Kumar Beas and Will Jacques took 1 wicket each for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Du Plessis, Patidar and Karthik’s fifty went in vain :

Royal Challengers Bangalore, who came to bat first, did not have a good start and lost two important wickets within 23 runs.

After this, captain Faf du Plessis along with Rajat Patidar made an important partnership of 82 runs in 47 balls for the third wicket.

Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the third wicket of Rajat Patidar at the score of 105 runs. Who faced 26 balls and scored 50 runs with the help of 3 fours and 4 skyscraper sixes. The fourth wicket fell of Glenn Maxwell, who, like every match, failed in this match too and without opening the account, he got out LBW on the ball of Shreyas Gopal and returned to the pavilion.

Captain Faf du Plessis faced 40 balls and scored 61 runs with the help of 4 fours and 3 skyscraper sixes. Who returned to the pavilion after being caught out by Team David on Bumrah’s ball.

After the dismissal of Du Plessis and Patidar, Dinesh Karthik took command and batted brilliantly, playing an unbeaten inning of 53 runs with the help of 5 fours and 4 skyscraper sixes in 23 balls and made an important contribution in taking the team to a respectable score.

Apart from these, Lomror (0 runs), Saurabh Chauhan (9 runs), Vijay Kumar Beas (0 runs), Akash Deep (2 runs) remained unbeaten.

In bowling, Jasprit Bumrah took the maximum of 5 valuable wickets giving 21 runs in 4 overs for Mumbai Indians. While Shreyas Gopal, Akash Madhwal and Gerald Kotze got 1-1 wicket.
